Hi Francesco, I am curious to know your perspective... Do certain cultural environments (like the country where a company operates) foster such leadership traits more than others, or is the presence of toxic leaders more related to the individual characteristics and organizational dynamics irrespective of national culture?

Ciao Giacomo,

Thanks for reading the post!

The fascination with “action heroes” is a tendency I saw everywhere. But I do think that cultural factors have an influence. While I find Latin culture having a higher tolerance to “toxicity”, other cultures, especially the Anglo-Celtic, are more outspoken when it comes to call out unhealthy conduct.

The good news is that, in my experience, this tendency is on the decline globally. More and more people identifies this kind of “leadership” with an outdated practice they want to move away from.
